Demolition Has Definitely Begun

Well, it we weren't sure about remodelling the Archibald Library, there is no turning back now. In just three days, the construction crew has (among other things) removed all of the old service desks, carpet, ceiling tiles, OPAC areas, the Children's Services Supervisor's office and more! No wonder there is a fine haze of drywall in the building now...

Take a look at the photos (which are linked to on the right). The Archibald Library will never be the same again!

Finally, for a little preview of what is to come, on the right is an artist's rendering of what the elevator doors will look like after the remodel. If you look closely (and know more than a few languages!), you will see that the elevator door says "Read" in twenty of the world's most widely-spoken languages. Very appropriate for a library wouldn't you say?...

Thanks RK for the photos. Things are really moving along. Funny how Central School and the Public Library have become one in more than spirit these days.

Hope you are doing well. Hi to everyone for me. Linda J
